Weirdest thing.
So I woke up yesterday morning and I feel a weird cramp in my lower back on the right side...like I slept on it wrong. I ignored it, checked my e-mail, found out school wasn't going to be cancelled, which I thought it would be because the roads were so bad from all the snow.
Went back to bed and slept for about 30 minutes. Woke up and the cramp was still there, but turning more into an "ache" than a cramp. I tried to stretch it out, massage it out (kinda felt like a knot) but nothing worked.
Got out of bed, made some toast and worked on a couple things on my laptop. My roommate, Jordan was sitting on the other side of the living room and I told her I had a weird pain by my kidney. She asked if I thought it could be an infection, maybe a UTI, or a full bladder. That's when I felt, ya know, maybe I should see if the pain goes away if I go to the bathroom. Got to the bathroom and nothing happened....about 6 times in the course of an hour I went to the bathroom and nothing happened.
I decided, maybe I should sleep it off. After all, it's only 10:15 and I don't have class until 2.
It started getting worse. So much more pain and I had no idea why. I think Jordan's mom is a nurse so she called her mom and was asking her if she knew what I might be experiencing. Her mom first thought it was a kidney infection and that I should go get an antibiotic from a doctor.
I thought, hummm....I'll call in a set an appointment. I called in and they said they could get me in at 11 (about 40 minutes away)...and then...
IT HIT ME. Think of all the times you ever skinned your knee, stubbed your toe, bumped your head, got a bruise, hit by a car and then a train and then a chinook and combine all that pain together and put it in your lower right side back. That's what it felt like. I yelled, "JORDAN! YOU NEED TO TAKE ME NOW!"
We rushed to the clinic, I couldn't sit, I couldn't stand, I could not get comfortable in anyway! The roads were awful, but Jordan has 4 wheel drive and we made it there 10 minutes before 11 and they got me in right away. They gave me two shots for the pain and told me it was a stone. They sent me home with a filter, pain killers, and a sick feeling in my stomach...thought I was going to throw up.
I went home and slept for about 3 hours. Finally, I could go to the bathroom.
Today, I'm feeling much better. Not totally sure if it's completely passed or if it's still sitting in my bladder (which is where it can sit without it hurting)
I do not wish for anyone to ever have a kidney stone. But I hear labor will be a breeze now that I've gone through that.
xoxx
ouch! Thank God that's passed! (literally)
